MEET BRENDA ANN

ARTIST BIO

Brenda Ann is a passionate artist specializing in oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting. She has a deep appreciation for night photography and art history, alongside a diverse range of artistic pursuits. Brenda served as President of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society for six years, where she also chaired their 37th and 38th annual exhibitions. Whether painting en plein air or in her studio, she finds joy in creating unique art, including custom home portraits. Brenda holds a degree in fine art and currently teaches various art courses at a local college. She is the founder of the art movement known as Whimsicalism. Whimsical individuals possess a quirky and open-minded perspective on life that encourages others to relax, laugh, and reconnect with their inner child. With a vibrant sense of humor and a love for both fantasy and fun, these imaginative characters can lighten up tense or serious situations with their playful spirit.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My art is a reflection of my life experiences, infused with vibrant colors and inspired by both South Jersey and tropical landscapes. I want my new art to create a sense of whimsy and at the same time majesty to remind us of the beauty that is around us that we may take for granted, and how on any given day can we look back at the past and realize how beautiful it was! I want to appreciate the present moment more. I want to make trees and landscapes dance and sing with color. I want to bring beauty to every day life. My new word to encompass my life as an artist is WHIMSICALISM, because I seek to find the beauty and light-hearted fun in life.
