Painting the Jersey Shore: Finding Inspiration Along the Coast

Store/Blog/Painting the Jersey Shore: Finding Inspiration Along the Coast

There’s something about the light along the New Jersey coast that never stops inspiring me. The soft blues of the ocean in the early morning, weathered dunes, hydrangeas in bloom, sailboats drifting through the bay, and even the quiet streets after a summer rain all find their way into my artwork.

As an artist and studio owner in Stone Harbor, so much of what I create is connected to the feeling of being near the water. I love capturing the peacefulness of shore towns like Cape May, the textures of beach grasses, and the small details people remember from summers spent at the shore.

My creative process usually begins with a walk, a photograph, or simply noticing colors together in nature. Sometimes inspiration comes from the soft green and blue tones of hydrangeas growing beside beach cottages. Other times it comes from diamondback terrapin turtles crossing the roads near the marshes, which have become a meaningful symbol in my artwork.

I’m especially drawn to creating art that feels calm, nostalgic, and connected to coastal living. Whether it’s a watercolor painting or seasonal coastal collection, I want each piece to bring a sense of warmth and relaxation into someone’s home.

Through this blog, I’ll be sharing:

behind-the-scenes looks at new artwork,
inspiration from the Jersey Shore,
studio updates,
coastal decorating ideas,
wedding floral and color inspiration,
and stories behind my collections.
