There’s a quiet language in flowers.
Not the bold, showy voice of a bouquet that demands attention —
but the softer one:
the curve of a petal,
the way light settles along a stem,
the familiarity of something blooming again and again.
When I paint flowers, I’m not just painting a subject.
I’m painting a feeling.
A memory.
A season.
A moment of stillness where beauty and breath meet.
My floral watercolor collection was born from those moments — from gardens by the shore, wild hydrangea bushes leaning into summer air, and small stems collected in jars on kitchen windowsills.
Why Florals in Watercolor?
Watercolor is the most honest medium I know.
Its beauty lies in what you allow to happen:
Unlike opaque paint, watercolor lets the light shine through the color — just like light through a petal.
Nothing about it feels heavy or forced.
It’s gentle. It’s alive.
It mirrors the flowers themselves.
Inspired by the Shore Garden
Many of the flowers I paint are found along the South Jersey coast:
Even if the viewer doesn’t know the exact flower, they feel the air of the shore in the painting — the ease, the brightness, the hush.
Because the shore isn’t only dunes and waves.
The shore is in the gardens, the porches, the vases on tables after long beach days.
A Breath of Calm for Your Home
Florals are timeless as décor — especially when they’re rendered softly rather than graphic. In a world full of noise and rush, floral watercolors offer a moment of quiet. A reminder to pause.
They work beautifully in:
Many collectors tell me their floral pieces make their home feel like summer all year long.
Perfect for Gifts With Meaning
Floral watercolors also make thoughtful gifts because they carry feeling:
Flowers speak when words can’t.

Final Thought
Painting flowers is a practice in tenderness.
It asks you to pause, to look closely, to notice the small marvels the world offers — again and again.
If my floral watercolors bring a moment of softness into your home, your memories, or your day — then the painting has already done its work.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My goal for my artwork is to capture the beauty of everyday scenes. I use boldly applied colors to heighten the visual impact of my compositions, which often feature subjects like architecture and flowers. My artwork draws inspiration from the landscapes of South Jersey where I live, and colorful tropical environments like Sanibel Island, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater Beach, Orlando, Cape Canaveral, Kissimmee, Marathon, Islamorada, Key Largo, Big Pine Key, and Key West in Florida and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In my work, I try to capture nature, as with my 28-foot hydrangea mural in my recent exhibition. This large watercolor was created on a roll of paper too large for a desk, so it was painted on the floor with me standing over it, as Jackson Pollock did with his drip paintings. I used large watercolor brushes and professional watercolor paints and had to wait hours for each section to dry. This piece is my tribute to the humble hydrangea, which is featured in much of our design work at my family's flower shop. This piece reminds me to appreciate the beauty of life. Through abstracted realism, this work reminds me to move toward contentment and spiritual harmony, suggesting that true serenity emerges from acknowledging the miraculous natural world.
